The current public education system in America is failing our youth. By placing importance in standardized test scores, we are dooming the future of our nation to be unable to think critically. Rather than granting knowledge, we are leaving a generation wounded from the belief who they are as individuals lacks any value to our society. As shown in the documentary “Race to Nowhere”, lasting physical and emotional damage are leaving their mark on students as young as 7 years old. These children are being diagnosed with depression and anxiety due to the stress placed on achieving high tests scores. Most are not actually gaining any knowledge, instead acting as parrots repeating facts committed to temporary memory in order to pass standardized tests. Continue reading →
